Highlights:

Chatham Island tāiko

Found on the Chatham Islands off mainland New Zealand, the tāiko (Pterodroma magentae) is one of the world's rarest seabirds.

J.M. Barker (Hapupu) National Historic Reserve

One of only two national historic reserves in New Zealand, Hapupu protects Moriori rakau momori (tree carvings).

Mangere & Rangatira islands

Free of introduced predators and pests, Mangere and Rangatira island nature reserves in the Chatham Islands are refuges for rare and endemic species including the critically-endangered black robin.
