Easy access short walk
Enjoying a soak in the hot springs
A popular easy walk crosses the Kaitoke Stream and follows the edge of the Kaitoke Swamp to sulphurous hot springs. Watch a video about Kaitoke Hot Springs.
Off Whangaparapara Rd on Great Barrier Island.
A series of pools for bathing are dammed at a fork in the Kaitoke Creek. Take care as the stream water may be hot. Do not put your head under the water in the pools.
Great Barrier Island is the largest island off New Zealand's North Island and lies 100 kilometres north-east of Auckland. More than 60 per cent of the island is managed by DOC.
